“What if You Knew You Were Dying Tomorrow?”- Written by Julie S.

What if you knew you were dying tomorrow? What if it weren’t tomorrow, but soon?  Are you confident of where you will go after you die?

The Bible tells us that we actually live after we die here on earth, but only IF you are saved by the blood of Jesus.
For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God Himself and not by human hands. – 2 Corinthians 5:1

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. – 1 John 1:7

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9

It is NOT by your good works or being a good person that ensures your entrance into heaven.  It is by having a relationship with Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.  A relationship, NOT relious routine nor repetative acts of religiosity.  Being a follower of Jesus and picking your cross and following Him ensures your way into heaven.

And He said to all, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” – Luke 9:23

Denying yourself is essential and is part of true Christianity.  What does Jesus mean by “deny yourself”?  One of the easiest ways to describe this is by saying, “It’s not about me.”  Paul expressed it in Philippians 2:3, 4 when he said, “Consider others MORE important than yourself.”
To deny himself and say, “No” to selfish desires and ambitions. He should be willing to “pick up his torture stake”—to suffer, if need be, or be shamed or persecuted or even put to death for being a Christian.  He or she must “continually follow” Jesus, conforming to His pattern of life.

From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead.

“But Peter took Him aside and began to reprimand Him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from Me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to Me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.” – Matthew 16:21-25

What was Jesus’ cross? He lived for others and died for sinners and we are ALL sinners.  He gave His life willingly for those of us who didn’t deserve it.  That means that you and I should put our own interests behind the interests of others.

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?  If anyone is ashamed of Me and My message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels. – Luke 9:24-26

Bottom line here is that there is no middle road and that there is ONLY one way into heaven.  You can not be one foot in and one foot out nor can you say you believe yet not live your life like you believe. That old saying, “Actions speak louder than words” is true because you can say anything, but what is in your heart is what matters.

So, in conclusion, I’ll ask you again, “If you were to die, do you know where you would go?”

If you are ready to make God the King of your life and believe that Jesus forgives and loves you more than anyone.  If you want to go to heaven to live forever in His love, peace and joy, then say this prayer here:

“Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived and I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only Son, Jesus Christ shed His perfect blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin and give it all to you.

You say in, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to a license to sin, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

When you accept Jesus Christ into your heart with all sincerity, you receive the GIFT of the Holy Spirit [Holy Ghost], as is stated in Acts 2:38:

Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. – Acts 2:38
